Biography

Kathryn was raised on a small farm in rural North Carolina in the final years of the sustainable small farm. From there, she attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a degree in Horticultural Science and an "undeclared" minor in English, possibly reflecting a confusion of desired career paths! Concentrations of study included folklore, plant propagation, journalism, greenhouse management, technical writing, commercial rose production, and accounting. (See?) She has worked as an agricultural research technician, a secretary, a nursery inspector, freelance writer, laboratory supervisor and . . . a professional seamstress specializing in wedding dresses and pageant attire.
She began writing to preserve her sanity while at home with three small children. (They have their own little ones now and know what this means!) Her first book was published in 1998 by Kensington Publishers. Alberta Skies won the 1999 International Romance Writers' Award. Finnegan's Gold was nominated for the 2001 Book of the Year by Romantic Times.
In addition to novels, she also writes gardening books and articles on whatever interests her at the moment.
She lives in North Carolina with her husband, three dogs and a neighborhood full of spoiled squirrels.
